COBB COUNTY – Police are investigating a shooting outside an apartment complex in Marietta.
Responding officers were called to the scene at 11:30 a.m. regarding a person shot at The Crescent Square Apartments located at 2050 Austell Road.
According to officers, four black males wearing ski masks covering their faces, wearing dark-colored clothing and white gloves are considered suspects in this crime. All four males were armed with handguns and fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival.
When police arrived, they said they found one man dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 29-year old Roland Milton III of Marietta, Georgia.
Officers said there were several people in the parking lot when they arrived, and they had to break up a few scuffles when they got there.
Investigators are now trying to get potential witnesses to tell them what led up to the shooting, but so far, police said none will.
Police are asking anyone with information related to this incident to call police.
The day after Milton's death, family gathered to plead with the public -- and anyone who may have been at the scene and witnessed the shooting unfold -- to help find the killer.
Milton's brother, Bishop Eusebio Phelps, Sr., said he was "heartbroken" that his brother was gunned down.
"(I'm) definitely heartbroken and we're definitely surprised because he's not the type of person who deserves to be gunned down and to lose his life, for his three daughters to wonder where their father is," he said. "So it's very heartbreaking."
