Personal Statement

My name is Aaron Barlow, I was born in Dublin, Ireland and am now living in Salinas, California. I moved to California in 2012 and have been playing and watching soccer my whole life. Since I was five years old I've been playing as a center back, although last year I played as a central midfielder and can also play there. I have a fantastic understanding of the game and on the field I have great vision. I'm also comfortable on the ball and can play passes very well. Tied with being able to time tackles well and having the ability to score goals, I will always give it my all and make sure my team has the best chance of winning. Working hard both on the field and in the classroom, I am taking four AP classes this year. Although I may have gotten a better GPA if I decided not to this, I enjoy pushing myself to the best of my abilities and getting the best education I possibly can. Soccer being my first love, my second love is helping others and making those around me happy. Last Spring Break I spent my week in a city outside Tijuana building two houses to help families in need, and seeing their reaction to their new homes really lit up my world. I am also going back to Mexico to do this again this Spring Break and I'm going to Peru to do this this summer.

It has been my dream and goal ever since I was a small boy to play soccer at the highest level I can, whether that means I play for the Republic of Ireland national team or my career ends in college, I am determined to make something of it. I am constantly trying to improve myself and can never just sit still, I have to be the best I can possibly be. In college I wish to pursue a degree in marketing as it is something I'm deeply interested in and I enjoy working with others. I am looking for a college that can help me achieve both my aspirations. A school where I can get my degree in marketing and a school where I will improve as a soccer player.
