Andrew Dawson’s obituary details were shared by his family. On April 12, 2017, at 1:30 pm, Andrew Dawson, 88, passed away at New Horizons.
Stewart and Mabel Dawson welcomed Andy into the world at Lourdes Hospital in Campbell River.
His father, Stewart, was the first provincial constable stationed in Campbell River. Andy spent his childhood on a farm located on the present-day property of New Horizons.
He began working in the logging industry and later moved on to work as the pile driver with Gagne’s before eventually buying the business with his brother Ron and Horsey Calnan, forming DCD Pile Driving.
Andy and his wife, Dorene, raised six children and Al on their hobby farm in Oyster River. In his leisure time, Andy enjoyed model trains, gun collecting, hunting, and caring for his dogs, most recently George. His family and friends will deeply miss him.
Andy was predeceased by his parents, Stewart and Mabel Dawson, brothers Keith, Don, and Bill, sisters Gladice and Margaret, and son Kyle.
He is survived by his brother Ron (Jean), his wife Dorene, daughters Yvonne, Joyce, Kim, Kori (Don), son Kurt (Shawna), Al (Faye), and extended family.
A service was held on May 6 at 1:00 pm at Sutton’s Campbell River Funeral Home. The family would appreciate donations to New Horizons in Andy’s name.
