The Atlanta Police Department said Leroy Hinton, 30, was taken into custody on Monday by the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force and members of APD's fugitive unit.
Officers responded to the shooting scene on Peachtree Street around 3 a.m. on Nov. 12. 11Alive previously confirmed with the Fulton County Medical Examiner that the man killed in that shooting was Jason Ogbomoh.
APD investigators said he was shot multiple times and later died from his injuries while at the hospital.
Hinton faces charges including felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
11Alive obtained records from the Fulton County Superior Court, which show Hinton has been denied bond in his first court appearance on Tuesday.
"To his students, Mr. Ogbomoh was more than a teacher; he was a mentor, role model, and source of inspiration," the letter from Principal Diona Brown stated. "His ability to connect with students and his enthusiasm for teaching was truly special. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him."
