Thomas Partey is set for an extended period on the sidelines after undergoing a procedure on a thigh injury.
Arsenal now expect the midfielder, 30, to miss between six and eight weeks, potentially ruling him out until next year.
Partey has been restricted to just four Premier League appearances so far this season with a groin injury sidelining him for the whole of September.

His last appearance came in the win over Manchester City at the beginning of last month.
Partey is not the only injury concern for Arsenal ahead of their Premier League meeting with Burnley on Saturday.
Captain Martin Odegaard has missed the last two games while striker Gabriel Jesus is also sidelined.
Forward Bukayo Saka also limped off from the midweek Champions League win over Sevilla but has been included in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers.
Arsenal currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, three points behind leaders Manchester City.
