Personal Statement
My personal goal is to play competitive college volleyball while earning a college degree. I would like to major in business and obtain at least a Master's degree. I truly believe education is paramount to my future success. I know playing volleyball in college would be an opportunity of a lifetime that would be a part of me for the rest of my life.
I have the ability and skills to be an extremely versatile player. I am currently in my 4th
year on the varsity team for Mayfield High School (jersey #11) and I have been selected as Captain. I am also about to begin my 10th year of club volleyball and will play with the Three Crosses VBC (jersey #29). While on varsity, I have played outside hitter, middle hitter, opposite hitter, and the all-around. I am a determined, passionate, hardworking, and experienced player. I am a driven and competitive player who plays with ferocity. I am a team leader that believes in leading by example, who is supportive of my teammates, and a very coachable player. I do not make excuses when I make mistakes. I take constructive criticism in stride and I apply that valuable information to my game. I give it my all in practice, but I also work extensively outside of practice to further develop my skills to become better at the sport I truly love.
I have participated in a variety of sports (primarily soccer, club volleyball, school volleyball, power lifting, golf, and track) ever since I began attending elementary school. I was selected to play on the "A" volleyball team in middle school. As a junior in high school, I was selected as 2nd Team All District for the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA). As a senior, I was selected as 1st Team All District for NMAA and chosen by the New Mexico High School Coaches Association to play in the 5A All-Star volleyball game. Additionally, I was selected for the varsity track team at my high school for the past 3 years and have participated in events such as the long jump, high jump, 4 x 200-meter relay, and the 200-meter dash.
I am not scared of hard work, and I have managed to maintain a successful balance between family, sports, and academics. My family truly believes, and has instilled in me, that playing a sport is more than just great athleticism and skill. It is about being apart of a team, accountability, dedication, hard work, and determination. My love for volleyball is part of who I am. I recognize the fact it takes hard work, dedication, and passion to be successful at the collegiate level and I am fully prepared for the challenge. I believe I would be a great asset to any volleyball program. Failure is not at option for me and I am ready to go forward and succeed.
