Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Ben Egan and I am currently getting ready to start my senior year at St. Francis de Sales. As of now we’re sitting as a top team in Northwest Ohio and we are pushing for a spot in the D1 state tournament.

I have recently experienced a huge growth in my game. In just a year, I have taken myself from a low to mid 80s average, to now a mid to high 70s average. My handicap is currently a 1.5 and I hope to improve that number by the end of this season.

I have grown up being a multiple sport athlete. Before starting golf just a few years ago, I was mainly a baseball and hockey player, but I quickly fell in love with golf. Playing multiple sports taught me the value of experience and determination. The only way to get better at what I was doing was learning how to multi task and working on myself as much as I could in every aspect of my game. Playing team sports has also taught me the value of personal development for the good of the team. I know it is important to grow yourself for the purpose of improving the teams chances at success. I love the determination that golf has given me. I have learned that playing all 18 holes has given me a drive to go until i’m truly finished. It’s taught me to never stop pushing until the end of the round.

I hope to find a school that I feel prioritizes improvement in both academics and athletics. I am currently interested in a finance degree. I am also interested in finding lifelong friendships along the way.
