Personal Statement

I am a multi sport athlete with aspirations of earning a degree that will help me get a job as a police officer/personal trainer/kinesiology when my baseball playing days are over.  I believe I am a good candidate for a team because I have a team first mentality.  I have a passion for doing whatever it takes to help my team win.  I am a quiet leader who leads by example both on and off the field.  At practice and in the gym, I have always been the first to arrive and the last to leave.  I always want to be the hardest working player on the field.  I am fortunate to have played for multiple teams over the last few seasons.  On my team last year (Sarnia Braves 15u) I was the starting short stop and leadoff batter.  When I was called up to play for the Sarnia Braves AAA 18u team in multiple tournaments I played center field and batted leadoff.  I also gained experience playing center field for the Western County All Stars during the Ontario games in 2018.  I believe my versatility will help any team as I also pitch and play second base.

As for my baseball skills set,  I am quick, with good base stealing ability.  My on base percentage last season was .541.  I have had success batting in the 1 hole or 3 hole for my team over the last few seasons.  As for defense, I have a strong arm and a knack for making the big play when needed.  I am a contact hitter with power.

I am a coachable player who has learned to take responsibility for my mistakes and acknowledge  the contributions of my teammates when receiving accolades.  My desire for team success is what I believe makes me different from a lot of recruits.  Whether I am playing baseball, hockey, or running track, I am competing not only for myself but for the rest of my teammates.  I believe that my athletic abilities in multiple sports will translate into becoming an even better ball player as I look forward to enhancing my skills and learning the game at a higher level.
