Brenda Carol Bennett was born to the late Willie J. Hannah Sr. and Gladys M. Bennett on September 11, 1949. She went home to celebrate with CHRIST Friday; December 11, 2020.
Born and raised in the Berkley section of Norfolk, Va., Brenda Bennett graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and attended Norfolk State University with an education in Early Childhood Development.
Brenda accepted CHRIST at an early age as she was a member of Rising Sun Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Doctor Hilton C. Felton Sr. During her early adult years, she was the Directress of her own community choir, The Supreme Voices of Tidewater. She was ordained Pastor in 2006 by Bishop and Apostle King of New Beginnings Apostolic Faith Ministries, and would later Copastor at LOVE In Action Ministries with Pastor Nikki Battle, as the Prophetess of the house.
Brenda had a passion for extracting and developing hidden potential within children. As a result, she founded Smart Start Christian Academy, where the children were taught modern dance, majorette, step, and acting outside of receiving a world class education. She would later go on to work for Daniels Christian Academy in Chesapeake, VA, Mt. Lebanon Christian Academy in Chesapeake, VA, as well as Ready Academy in Norfolk, Va where she would continue to shower her students with world class education, wisdom and the love of CHRIST!!!
Brenda made an everlasting impression on her family, friends, and coworkers. She loved teaching, singing, and loving people. She was well known for her kindness, warming smile, and her contagious laughter, but most of all, her passion for loving GOD.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children: LaSonda Strothers (Nee’ Nee’), Veneecia Battle (Nikki), Shaunteese Bennett (Shaun), Arveance Bennett (ManMan), Idontae Rogers (DeeDee), Devanique Cox-Bennett (Great Granddaughter), all of Norfolk, Va. Brothers: Eugene Bennett (Gene), Garland Bennett (Wayne) Willie Hannah Jr. (Bubba Jr.) The Late: William Boddie (Billie Joe), Howard Bennett (Earl). Fifteen Grandchildren: Devique, Alajuwan, Onrico, Onrionte’, Christara, Onrishe’, LeShontier, Anthonique, Anshanita, Darion, Devonte’, Montae, Dajon, D’Aryq, Arveana, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends in which all she loved.
