Nick Chubb, Round 2, No. 35 overall

College: Georgia

Position: Running back

Height: 5-foot-11

Weight: 227 pounds

Hometown: Cedartown, Georgia (Cedartown High School)

Why he’s unique: He’s a powerful runner but also has nice burst; Chubb clocked a 4.52 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL scouting combine in February. A significant knee injury — he tore ligaments, but not his ACL — ended his sophomore season early, and he wasn’t the same explosive player in 2016. But Chubb came back strong last season, the knee checked out during the pre-draft process and he’ll likely be competing for the starting job with the Browns this summer. He didn’t catch the ball out of the backfield much at Georgia, so that’s one area to watch as he pushes for immediate playing time. He was voted a permanent team captain and started all 15 games last fall.

Current NFL player comparison: Mark Ingram. After the selection, Browns vice president of player personnel Alonzo Highsmith compared Chubb to former Browns and Ravens running back Jamal Lewis.

Number of note: 29. Chubb did 29 reps on the 225-pound bench press at the combine, which speaks to his power. But the 2014 SEC Freshman of the Year has some zip, too, as he had two 83-yard touchdown runs in his college career — one against Alabama.

Dustin Fox says: The Browns have themselves a real running back. I know Chubb had planned on leaving Georgia after his junior year, but he made the right move in deciding to come back. He was in better shape and looked healthy last season as he teamed with Sony Michel to form one of college football’s best running back duos. He runs low to the ground and with power, and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t help the Browns immediately.
