NEW BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, Michigan (CNN) -- A fire destroyed a barn belonging to Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan on Sunday afternoon, killing several animals, according to New Buffalo Township Fire Chief Joseph Fleck.
No one was injured.
The fire broke out at about 12:40 p.m., killing seven horses, nine dogs and six sheep, Fleck said.
The barn was "a total loss," but firefighters were able to save a nearby maintenance shed, he said. Other buildings on the property were some distance away from the barn.
Fleck said it was too early to determine the cause of the fire, but said it may have been electrical.
Fleck said there were people at home at the time of the fire, but he did not know if Farrakhan was there.
