NCAA Division 3 wrestling colleges could be the answer for a student-athlete wanting a more well-rounded experience in college, compared to Division 1 or 2. Extra time to spend on campus, studying or getting involved in student clubs can allow for a far more enjoyable experience than just concentrating on wrestling above all. Some of the main differences between Division 2 and the other NCAA levels is that no athletic scholarships are available, and there are far less stringent recruiting rules.
How many Division 3 wrestling teams are there?
There are currently 109 NCAA Division 3 wrestling teams for a potential college wrestler, making D3 the division with the most wrestling programs. With athletic scholarships absent at this division, other forms of financial aid like grants, leadership scholarships and academic-based scholarships are all available. A large number of athletes qualify for financial aid which can lessen any financial burdens a student-athlete has to cover.
