Diane Gilman: From Custom Denim to HSN

Diane Gilman, an American fashion designer and entrepreneur, has a net worth of $15 million. In the 1960s, she made custom denim pants and jackets for rock stars. Later, she started her own washable silk line in New York, which she lost to a Chinese company that swindled her out of the rights in the ’70s.

Fast forward to 2012, and Gilman is one of the Home Shopping Network’s most popular sellers. She designs jeans, tops, shorts, and dresses with “baby boomer” women in mind. Her jeans have become especially popular, and high-end retailers, such as Bergdorf-Goodman, have approached her to carry her line. However, Gilman prefers to do most of her business via the Home Shopping Network, where she feels most comfortable.
