The lyrics of Hooverphonic’s “Eden” are terse and to a degree highly metaphorical. So, they are very much open to interpretation. Therefore, we would have to resort to some speculation in an effort to derive a general, agreeable meaning from it.

But it would appear – and this is where the speculation truly begins – that the relationship between the two of them is troubled. And it may be that they are currently on the outs.
So with that premise in mind, the purpose of the lyrics are two-fold. On one hand, the singer is trying to ascertain just how deep this relationship is or was. It would appear that the situation between her and the addressee is such that perhaps feelings that were once taken for granted have now been put into question.
And as such, secondly the singer is trying to clarify to the addressee that she never meant to invade his or her personal space. Or as it is expressed in this song, she “never tried to reach” said individual’s “eden”.
And again that is a very symbolic statement, to say the least. So obviously, with no official interpretation readily available, listeners are compelled to use their own imaginations in terms of what specifically the titular “eden” refers to.
But generally speaking, considering that it is equated with trying to ‘feel a vibration’, it wouldn’t be a literal place but rather some inner aspect of the addressee.
And conclusively, it reads as if the vocalist is trying to clarify that regardless of what this person has come to believe, it was never her intent was never to rub this person in the wrong way. Or viewed alternatively, now that their relationship has in fact fallen apart, the singer is trying to save face, if you will, by not appearing overly vested in the first place.
