Personal Statement

I have been playing baseball since I was two years old. As soon as I learned to walk, I also learned to throw a ball, and swing the bat. 14 years later, my love for baseball and goal to play beyond high school are as strong as ever, and I want to continue to grow as a student, athlete, and man by continuing to play at the college level. I love all sports, but baseball and golf are the two I play competitively. These two are my favorites because they require a high level of skill and athleticism, and also a high level of intelligence and mental toughness. Being a catcher, I take great pride in the mental part of the game, and know that calming my pitcher’s nerves and calling the right pitch can be as important as getting a big hit. I take pride in being a team leader.  I am somewhat laid back, but I try to lead by example.  I have always worked hard to play at a high level, especially against the best teams. I think that being fearless and consistent helped my community travel baseball teams win 18 tournament championships in six years. And then in high school, my sophomore and JV teams won back-to-back conference titles and combined for a record of 50-9.

I want to attend a college where I can challenge myself in the classroom and on the field. I want to surround myself with coaches and teammates to build strong bonds that will last a lifetime.
