Fats Domino was a legendary American musician known for his strong back beat and “wah-wah” vocalizations. Born Antoine Domino Jr. in New Orleans, Louisiana, he began playing musical instruments at a young age after watching his father and uncle. His first record, “The Fat Man,” was released in 1950 and he went on to have 35 songs reach the top 40 on American charts. He also had five gold records before 1955. Though his music career slowed down, he continued to play and release music. During Hurricane Katrina, there were rumors he had perished, but he survived and continued performing. Fats Domino passed away on October 25, 2017, at the age of 89.
