Thanks to Frankie Dettori’s height in feet and his weight, he’s made himself a huge success as a champion jockey. As a young teenager, he moved from Milan, Italy, to England to work as a stable lad and apprentice jockey. Now, Frankie opts for a break away from the UK and is one of the latest celebrities to join I’m A Celebrity in Australia.
Entering the show as a later arrival than Sam Thompson, Nella Rose, and co, Frankie joined I’m A Celebrity alongside fellow sporting star Tony Bellew. While Tony had success as a boxing champion, Frankie found fame as a world-renowned jockey. He even had a statue of himself unveiled at Ascot Racecourse by Her Majesty The Queen this October.
Frankie Dettori’s height in feet
In Frankie’s line of work, there’s no height requirement or limit, but jockeys do have weight limits.
Because of this, jockeys usually stand between 4 foot 10 and 5 foot 7, reports Horse Rookie.
Frankie’s height is 5 foot 4 (1.63 m).
I’m A Celebrity star’s weight
Speaking to BBC in 2006, Frankie called for the weight limits in his sport to be increased.
He said at the time that he weighed 9 stone 9 lbs, but would sometimes have to go down to 8 stone 6 lbs.
Racing Post reported in 2017 that the I’m A Celeb star “lost 7lb in six days in order to ride the filly at 8st 7lb, and did so by eating white fish and drinking water.”
Last year, The British Horseracing Authority made some changes to the weight limits for jockeys.
The report reads: “…the minimum weight carried in Flat races will increase from 8st to 8st 2lbs, while from Friday 29 April 2022, the minimum weight carried in Jump races will increase from 10st to 10st 2lbs.”
