Personal Statement
From a young age, I have always been a multi-sport athlete--playing soccer, basketball, softball, track and swimming. However, in 6th grade when I stepped on a volleyball court for the first time I knew this would be MY sport and the one I want to continue at the collegiate level.
Since then, I have worked with many coaches and players to raise my ability to the best it could be. I have been playing on my high school varsity team from my Sophomore year. In addition, I have played club for the past 3 years and it truly has enhanced my physical and mental ability on the court.
The first year I began to play club I was 14 years old. I had been placed on the 16U team and named Captain. From that year forward I had been named Captain for each club team I have played with. Although it was very intimidating at first, without that experience I wouldn't be where I am today. This situation taught me it doesn't matter about your age when your passionate about a sport you are able to play and compete with players at any age.
Not only have I been a player in this sport but, I have been lucky enough to be able to coach the local youth program, Robert Jacobson Sports, for the past 3 years. This allows me to understand the fundamentals of coaching and has really grown my love for the game.
