Rooms are all the more spacious due to simple furnishings and plain white walls. Pale pine is used for the ceiling-high partial bed canopy and desk; charcoal grey upholstered daybeds and beige Eames-style chairs and footstools provide lounging spots. Televisions, fridges, roomy closets, and pottery mugs and glasses are provided. The latter are for use at the pantry stations where coffee, tea, and filtered water are available 24/7. Brown carpeting with an abstract branch pattern is matched with a delicate mural of birds among a network of fine branches. Like all the hotel’s art, it is by a local painter.

The small bathrooms lie behind sliding doors; wonderful local toiletries have organic essential oils, like pine, lavender, and citrus. They work wonderfully, too. Particularly cosy, brushed cotton faux patchwork robes, made by the nearby Vermont Flannel Company, are provided.

Some sixth-floor rooms have big bathrooms with whirlpool tubs and fireplaces, and better lake views. Also, these more expensive rooms add morning croissants and evening cheese and crackers to the pantry.
