Respect is something that we all want and something that many of us are willing to fight for. Showing respect is important because it demonstrates that one person sees another as having value and that they recognize that individual’s rights and dignity.
Every person should be respected, but there are some careers in our society like teachers, clergy, and government officials whose positions have respect built right into them. As children, we respect our parents and we should always have respect for the elderly as they have earned it with their lives.
There’s nothing as thought-provoking as the knowledge that someone doesn’t respect you; you need only to watch 10 minutes of reality TV to know how hot-headed someone can get if they don’t get the respect they believe they deserve.
When you feel disrespected, it can bring about feelings of rage, sadness, unworthiness, insecurity, and disregard. Being disrespected can make you blind to everything going on around you as you focus on the lack of respect you’re getting.
As humans, we all seek the good opinion, regard, admiration, and esteem of others, and it’s something that is well worth working for and achieving.
The more respect we show others, the more respect we seem to get back. When you treat others — co-workers, friends, and family members — with respect, it can help make an environment more harmonious and productive. When someone is respectful, they have a positive attitude, are socially adept, and are better at communication than other people.
Respect isn’t given freely by some people and we must earn it. It can be difficult to know how to go about gaining someone’s respect but once earned, it can mean even more to us. As with anything, when you actively work for it, it seems to have even more value.

If you want the respect of a Scorpio, don't be a pushover. Aim for kindness over niceness. If you're too nice to everyone all the time, it makes your niceness seem fake. Scorpios hold honesty in high regard, so be your real self — learn how to separate kindness from being a victim and stop having others take advantage of you.

For Sagittarius, respect is for people who are open-minded but have a strong sense of their own personal moral code.
