William is an American billionaire and former silver trader. He was born as the sixth child of HL and his first wife Lyda Bunker in 1929 and is currently 94 years old.

Herbert currently has a net worth of $2.5 billion in 2023, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Back in the 70s, William got involved in a scam alongside his late brother Nelson.

The siblings reportedly stocked over 12 million pounds of silver with the intention to create a shortage and hike the price.

William and Nelson eventually hiked the price of silver from just $6.08 per ounce to $49.45. However, their scam was discovered which caused the Commodity Exchange, Inc (COMEX) to adopt a Silver Rule 7 policy. The policy helped in dropping the price of silver to more than 50% in only four days.

The COMEX policy change nearly bankrupted William who had taken loans to purchase the silver.
