James Holmes crime scene photos are the talk of the town.

Police officers and firefighters shared their observations from the horrific scene during James Holmes’ trial for the Aurora theater massacre.

When the first responders quickly arrived at the Aurora, Colorado theater shooting, they saw disturbing things like blood, rifle casings, and lots of confusion.

A brave fire lieutenant named Bernd Hoefler went inside the theater to look for survivors after Holmes started shooting on July 20, 2012.

He found victims who had terrible injuries, some were shot in the head, and others were trampled after being shot.

Hoefler found one person who seemed like they might survive.

He said, “I I could tell the individual wasn’t clearly dead since they were warm and flexible, the man claimed. I desired to help and to save them.

But despite his efforts and calls for help, they were unable to save the individual.

They had to prioritize other victims who had a better chance of survival.

The horrifying scene at the theater still haunts Hoefler’s mind.

He can still remember it clearly, even when he closes his eyes. The image of the theater is deeply disturbing to him.

James Holmes, who is now 27 years old, pleaded not guilty due to insanity.

It was a horrifying night when he caused the deaths of 12 people and injured 70 others during a late-night screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” at the Century 16 theatre.

The seriousness of his actions led to substantial charges being brought against him.

Holmes, who had been studying neurology but had withdrawn from his Ph.D. program, was caught by authorities shortly after the incident occurred.

His hair was dyed neon orange, resembling the evil Joker character from the movie.

Some reports say he identified himself as “the Joker” during the arrest

When they arrived at the scene, a firefighter medic saw many police cars and other vehicles around the theater.

He was ready to drive his fire engine through the chaos to reach the victims.

Some of the injured people ended up being taken to the hospital in police cars.

Annette Brook, a police officer with 23 years of experience in Aurora, rushed into the theater.

She saw people covered in blood but couldn’t help them immediately because they didn’t know where the shooter was.

Brook said, “People were running out of the theater. Some were screaming, some were crying.”

Inside the theater, the scene was horrifying.

Brook described blood on the floor, the walls, the emergency exit door, and the benches. She also saw numerous bullet shells spread all over the ground.

In the middle of the confusion, emergency personnel were given explicit instructions: “If someone is alive, get them out of here.”

According to the prosecution’s case, Holmes started firing a rifle into the crowded theatre after dispersing tear gas into it ten minutes into the film.

He switched to a shotgun when the rifle started to malfunction.

One witness said they could barely see the shooter’s outline in the light and smoke.

During the trial, Sgt. Jonsgaard testified about ordering the removal of the youngest victim, 6-year-old Veronica Moser-Sullivan, from the theater, despite her already being dead.

Jonsgaard said, “I couldn’t leave a child in that crime scene… If there was any chance she needed to go… I didn’t want my officers stepping over her. I didn’t want her there.”

Holmes will be admitted to a mental hospital without a predetermined release date if he is judged not guilty due to insanity.

The court accused him of 166 crimes, including murder.

Where is Holmes now?

According to the court’s order, Holmes is serving his sentence at the Allenwood facility of the United States Penitentiary.

He is regarded as an at-risk prisoner, according to prison records reported by the Washington Post, because of the possibility of attacks by other inmates.

Early in his prison term, he was the victim of at least one assault.
