Alex Hedison had a huge crush on Beals and they became VERY CLOSE!!!!! People who attended V-Day to the 10th in New Orleans saw Hedison and Beals together in the city, at an out of the way neighborhood men's gay bar where they thought they could go without being recognized. It was a place Hedison and DeGeneres often went to when they were in New Orleans and they were a couple.

Back in April 2008, people in New Orleans spotted Beals and Hedison at a gay bar at the Marigny District. They were described as "pretty chummy" and stayed there for several hours.
Later that same year, Hedison trained with Beals and swam together in Vancouver's English Bay every morning when Beals was training for a triathlon. People in Vancouver said they appeared joined at the hip for most of that summer.
After they finished filming (The L Word), Beals traveled down to Los Angeles to attend the opening of Hedison's "Ithaka" photo exhibit.
