Personal Statement
I have been playing field hockey since 3rd grade and ever since I picked up a stick, I have been eager to learn new skills and excel as an athlete. I am coachable and always willing to participate in a variety of opportunities to better myself on and off the field. Playing in college is an opportunity I have been excited about and a goal that I have had since I first started playing the sport.
I stand out on the field because I am able to read plays and predict the next pass. I see the field, and am constantly talking to help my teammates out and let them know I am open for a pass. Throughout the season I strive to improve my skills and strength, and focus in on what I need to do to make myself better for the team. I enthusiastically take on a leadership role and believe I am an encouraging team player, helping other teammates and providing positive feedback during practices. I take field hockey seriously and am always willing to leave it all on the field and try my best to succeed. Not only am I able to act as a leader on the field, I participate in extracurricular activities that allow me to further lead and help others. By helping out at my church, volunteering with Captain (local social services organization), and being a part of other academic organizations at school such as SNHS, I demonstrate leadership, responsibility, and time management. School is extremely important to me, and I work hard to excel in my classes. I believe that field hockey has helped me grow as a leader both in school and in other aspects of my life, and I am excited to take both my athletics and education to the next level.
