He was born on April 29, 1955, and was brought up in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was the eldest of three children and had two sisters, Janet and Jana. 

His mother’s name was Peggy Ann, and his father’s name was Allen Jordan. His father, a strict disciplinarian, was an officer in the Air Force reserve who passed away due to a plane crash when Leslie was 11. 

He is a former student of Brainerd high school. He went to the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga to study theatre. At the start, he was pursuing a career as a jockey, but to lose weight and get stronger at the same time was difficult, so he decided to pursue a career in acting. 

He was the winner of the Emmy awards for his role in the famous US television comedy series Will and Grace (2001-2006). 

Although he had a great career, during the pandemic, his career gained greater heights when 6 million people followed him after watching his videos daily on Instagram. 

He made his acting debut on TV by featuring in the Lee Majors action series The Fall Guy in 1986. In 1989, he performed a guest role in Candice Bergen’s Murphy Brown, which caught people’s attention on him.
