Personal Statement
My name is Matthew Evans and I am an exceptional, gifted, and dual-enrolled student at Yulee High School, and going into my Senior Year. My goals for and beyond college are to be an exceptional leader in my studies, sports, and life. I will be going to college for pre-med, Human Anatomy, Biology, and Chemistry. Double Majoring in Biology and Human Anatomy, while minoring in Business. With these majors, I plan to be an Emergency Doctor/General Surgeon.
I am a good candidate for your baseball team because while working on my studies, I have always been able to balance sports and know how to stay focused. I love baseball and have known for my whole life that playing in college is what I want to do. I bring leadership, resilience, and brightness to any team I step onto the field for. I have always believed in the idea of "the first one in last one out", you will not succeed unless you yourself put the work in. While very talkative, I know when to keep my head down, listen to my peers and coaches, and get to work and be great.
I believe myself to be unique in many ways. There are many dual-sport athletes, but being in the Marching Band is one most do not hear a lot about. I am the woodwind captain and drum major for Yulee High School. I play a variety of instruments such as Alto sax, Tenor sax, Baritone sax, Oboe, Bassoon, Trombone, Violin, Viola, and Piano. Not only being musically talented, but I am also in many academic clubs. I am in a variety of clubs from the National Honor Society, to Gifted Studies and Humanities.
My whole life has revolved around baseball for 16 competitive years, and I can not wait to compete and further my career at your University.
