Melvin Cecil Blount Jr. affectionately called Sioux or Cecil was born to Gloria Mae Blount and Melvin Cecil Blount Sr. on April 14,1960 in Norfolk Virginia. He attended Manor High School and went on to enjoy his career serving in the Army and working for Unisource. He was a lifelong Steelers fan, an amateur body builder in his youth and a karate master in his own mind.
Life really began when he met the love of his life Gloria Goodson and they wed on November 18, 1987. His family was the most important part of his life. He relished being a husband, dad, grandad, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all. He truly never met a stranger and his sense of humor was unmatched. Forever foolish, he cracked jokes until the very end. Laughter and love was at the core of who he was. A beautiful family with so much laughter and joy that fills our hearts and memories of Cecil, that is the incomparable legacy he leaves. We are all forever grateful to have known, loved and to have been loved by Cecil.
He was predeceased by his mother Gloria Mae Blount. He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving wife, Gloria; his children: Melvin Cecil Blount III, Kimberly Edmonds and Kevin Edmonds; grandchildren: Kanetia Edmonds, Kevin Spicer and Ayonni Allen; his father, Melvin Cecil Blount Sr. (Brenda); siblings: Karen Dunn (Phillip), Sandra Peterson (Vincent), Beverly Anderson (Michael), Howard Glover and Ryan Baker; sisters-in-law: Delores Peters (Charles), Dietriet Cheatum, Cynthia Goodson and Eleanor Dixson; with best friends: Vernon “Big One” Saylor and Harvey “Chubby” Bowden; and a host of family and friends.
