Elley Duhé’s “Middle of the Night” is a really poetic song, but one whose highly-metaphorical language doesn’t at all conceal the fact that it is amorous in nature. That is to say that any adult would know what it really means where, such as in this case, the vocalist is basically encouraging the addressee to visit her “in the middle of the night”.

But to reiterate, this piece isn’t even remotely NSFW, not unless you consider lingo such as “wash over me like a hurricane” too sensitive for the general public. Indeed “Middle of the Night” comes off a lot like it was inspired by one of those romance novel, where the goal is clearly to consistently allude to sex though in an artistic, and shall we say female-friendly manner.

Elley Duhé, "Middle of the Night" Lyrics

Elley Duhé

Despite having a foreign-sounding last name, Elley Duhé is actually a singer from Mississippi who was born in Alabama. When this song was released on 10 January 2020, she was 27 years old. And thus far Elley has gotten around to dropping one album, that being a 2018 EP entitled “Dragon Mentality”. On top of that, she consistently put out songs throughout the late 2010s. And thus far, her most-successful outing has been a 2018 single alongside Zedd entitled “Happy Now”.

The writing of this song was handled by Elley Duhé in conjunction with Rømans and Andrew Wells. And Wells also served as its producer.

By the looks of things, “Middle of the Night” did not chart upon release. However, it did apparently achieve TikTok virality in late 2021.
