Hamilfans turned out in force for the July 9 performance of Broadway smash “Hamilton,” the last show before the departure of three of the cast’s key players — creator-star Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom, Jr. (who won a Tony for his performance as Aaron Burr) and Phillipa Soo.
More than hour before the curtain went up, the street outside the Richard Rodgers Theater was mobbed. There were ticketholders who’d gone to extremes and paid thousands of dollars to be in the theater that night, superfans hoping for a glimpse of their favorite actors and a string of black SUVs dropping off big-name attendees.
