Phillip Eugene Alston, 56, departed this life for his heavenly home on Monday, September 18, 2023. He was born on February 26, 1967, to Barbara White and Willie Alston, Jr. He was raised as the third of four children by Barbara White and Clarence White. He grew up in the Moton Park and the Berkley sections of Norfolk and was a product of Norfolk Public Schools.
Phillip was quiet and reserved but always in the mix. Indeed, a gentle giant with a huge heart! He always went above and beyond to help family. Some of his favorite activities included watching boxing matches, cartoons, movies, and listening to music. You could always count on Phillip to either be in his room or somewhere with a remote in his hand. Phillip worked at the Norfolk Shipyard and Brooks Electric Company.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Clarence White; and two siblings, Jerome “Sleep” Alston, and Anthony Gerard Alston.
He is survived by his parents, Barbara Ann White and Willie Alston, Jr., two cherished sons Marcelleas Alston and William Ricks, a devoted sister DeAndra Burney (Michael), and beloved nieces and nephews; Whitney Alston, Esq., Madison Alston, Ashley Gilchrist, Darius Burney, Ramsey Burney, Ryan Burney, and Peytan Burney.
He also leaves behind a cherished friend Derrell Ricks. She remained Phillip’s constant guiding light for over 30 years. She was a great help to him especially in these last 2 years. We are eternally grateful for all of the help and care that she gave him over the years and until the end.
