Star recruit VJ Edgecombe is going to play college basketball at either Duke or Baylor, with an announcement to be made on Sunday.

Per On3.com's Joe Tipton (h/t Hunter Shelton of On3.com), Edgecombe has narrowed his list of options down to the Blue Devils or Bears, with Kentucky no longer under consideration.

"It's really difficult to pin a favorite here," Tipton wrote. "This one feels like it'll come down to Duke and Baylor. Today, one source told me they think it'll be Duke, but another source suggested Baylor."

The Wildcats were making a late push to land Edgecombe, who took an official visit to Lexington in late November. Head coach John Calipari and assistant Orlando Antigua watched him play in person on Nov. 30.

Last week, Edgecombe told Tipton (h/t Wyatt Huff of KyInsider.com) he had a "great" visit with Calipari and he was "leaning one way" with his decision, but he didn't tip his hand about which school had the edge.

A 6'5" combo guard at Long Island Lutheran High School, Edgecombe is the highest-ranked recruit in the 2024 class who has yet to announce where he will be playing college basketball.

Per 247Sports composite rankings, Edgecombe is a 5-star prospect and No. 5 overall player in his recruiting class. The site lists Duke as the favorite to land the New York native.

Duke has already secured commitments from four of the top 20 2024 prospects, including top-ranked Cooper Flagg. Jason Asemota is the only top-30 recruit currently committed to Baylor.

Edgecombe's decision is expected to be announced on Sunday during halftime of the Montverde Academy-Prolific Prep game that airs on ESPN2 beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.

If anyone is trying to find any clues about which of the powerhouse programs Edgecombe is going to pick, It may be notable that Montverde Academy is Flagg's high school team.
