Personal Statement
My name is Riley Haag and I am a junior at the Olentangy High School in Delaware, Ohio. I am part of the 2017 class, and my primary position is pitcher. My secondary position would be anywhere in the outfield. As a pitcher, I am great getting out of clutch situations and good at making a statement to start the game. As an outfielder, I can track any ball down and I have cannon for an are. I have been playing baseball since I was five years old. I have always dreamed of making it to the next level as an athlete. My collegiate goals are to first get a good education. Baseball is on that list but like I always say "grades come first". Secondly, be the best student athlete I can be. I give my very best on the field as well as in the classrooms. Playing college sports while getting a good education is not a right but a privilege.
I have a pretty good bat. I bat left handed and throw right handed. I don't have very much power under me, but a almost always make contact in clutch situations. I usually bat toward the bottom of the line up. I have a very good eye at the plate and I like to work the count as well. In our 2014 club season, I got walked many times. My coach thought if I were to get walked, steal a base and then the top of the order would hit me in. I have a very good three to five step lead on the bases. In our 2014 season, I had a 75% chance of stealing a base. I'm pretty quick for my body type and have good reaction instincts.
I hustle on and off the field. I keep my head after every error or a strikeout. I am good at picking teammates up after they have made a mistake. Before every game, I have so much energy and enthusiasm.
In the classrooms, I currently have a GPA of about 3.3. Throughout my high school career I feel very confident that I can spike up that GPA. I am currently enrolled in two honors classes: Honors Biology, Honors CP English. I also am in an accelerated math class: Pre-Calculas. I am very good on turning in assignments on time, never late. As a junior, I plan to take AP Calculas, double up on sciences which includes Honors Chemistry and Earth and Space Science.
Thank you for learning more about me and my experiences. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon. If you have any questions, please feel free to email mail.
