After a black mamba bit a school girl in Zimbabwe during her studies, she passed away within 30 minutes.

According to reports, Melody Chiputura returned to the classroom from afternoon athletics with other students when the snake bit her on the thigh.

The highly venomous snake lunged at Melody Chiputura, 17, while she was in a classroom at Rushinga High School in Mashonaland Central.

Headteacher Christopher Mulenga said, “Everyone panicked when the students found the snake, with some students jumping out of windows.”

Given that the facility is far from the extensive grasses that serve as the snake’s preferred habitat, school personnel are still looking for answers about how the snake entered the classroom.

Although it’s unclear how the black mamba got inside the classroom, snakes are not unusual to get inside structures.

However, Themba Mangwiro, the deputy provincial education director, told local media that a villager had seen the snake just before the incident.

It is thought that the snake entered the school after being attacked by a peasant.

Mangwiro stated, “We assume that the snake entered the classroom since it was calm because the students were outside playing sports.”

Ten minutes after the incident, the girl’s father, Joseph Chiputura, learned that his daughter had been bit.

He claimed to The Herald-Zimbabwe that “when we got to the clinic, it was too late. It is terrible and difficult to accept this. How a snake could enter a classroom and bite my daughter baffles me.”

According to the girl’s father, she had amazing potential and loved attending school.
