The TLC Network gets its name for very good reason. The Learning Channel brings viewers all kinds of shows including sMothered which follows the lives of extremely close bonds between mothers and their kids. During sMothered season 5, Catherine Galasso-Vigorito opens up like never before about her own mom.
sMothered fans will have seen Catherine and her daughter, Gabriella Vigorito, on the show preparing for pageants and dressing identically. Many viewers of the show were surprised to know Gabriella has two sisters and many suggested Catherine has a “favoritism” towards Gabriella. But, her sisters are arguably “the real stars” according to TLC fans, and it looks like the trio gets along great, and poke fun at each other.
Gabriella has news for her mom
February 13 sees sMothered’s season 5 final air and episode 10 looks to be filled with drama.
A preview clip from the episode sees Gabriella tell her mom, Catherine, how she “loves the city,” thinks it’s a “great place,” and wants to take advantage of the opportunities it offers.
Gabriella says she “wants to be in the action,” before her mom, looking distraught asks: “What do you mean, though? What about me and you?”
The pageant star reassures her mother they will always have a bond, but adds she wants to be “alone” for some time.
Gabriella is ready to take a big step and move out… but Catherine isn't going down without a fight. Watch the drama unfold on the #sMothered season finale Tuesday at 10/9c.

‘You’re not going anywhere’
As the idea of Gabriella moving away sets in for Catherine, she asks through tears why the idea “has come out of the blue,” before adding: “You’re not going anywhere.”
Catherine adds: “We’re making all these plans, what about the pageant?”
The mother-daughter-duo had been seriously preparing for Miss Connecticut USA 2023, with Gabriella even going to a zoo to learn to walk like a flamingo.
Catherine questions her daughter as to how she’ll “carry on the legacy of Miss Connecticut USA” if she’s living and working in New York.
Per Gabriella’s Instagram page, she’s spent some of New York Fashion Week in The Big Apple and seems to be having a great time.

Catherine’s mom’s death
Speaking in a confessional on sMothered, Catherine explains how she hates “to be shocked.”
She says: “I am so close to Gabriella, so that is devastating to me.”
The 56-year-old, explains the moment took her back to when her own mother died.
She said: “I thought she was just sleeping and I found her dead. I don’t like to be shocked. To have her spring something on me like that after we have so many plans. Why?”
Catherine, visibly upset, tells her daughter: “Best friends don’t do this to each other.”
Gabriella’s mom has clearly been through a lot with her mother’s unexpected passing.
Taking to Instagram around two years ago, the TLC star shared a quote she’d seen on a t-shirt at a fair. The shirt reads: “Behind every strong person, there is a story that gave them no choice.”
In an article published in the Daily Times, Catherine reflected on fond memories of her late mother. She wrote in the 2023 piece:
“…I stand in front of my mother’s framed photograph that sits on the desk in my office. I gaze at it and remember the words she spoke and more importantly her kind actions that reflected her great love for people. The picture was the last photo taken of her. It was the day before she died… I wish she were here to see how joyful I am to follow her advice…”
