Personal Statement
My name is Ty Nichols. I attend Idalou High School, which is 10 miles east of Lubbock, Texas. Idalou is a very successful 3-A football program, having won state and went 101-23 in the past ten years. My sophomore season I made the varsity as a Middle Linebacker and Fullback. I started out second string but quickly gained the starting spot ahead of a senior linebacker. I was named 2nd team All-District and All-South Plains Linebacker only behind one of our own senior linebackers. I was second on the team for tackles with 124. According to Maxpreps.com, I had the third highest total tackles in the state for all sophomore linebackers (all divisions). I was respected by upperclassmen and was viewed as a leader on the team. It was my responsibility to anchor the defense and make the right calls on alignment, stunts, and coverages. I am an intelligent person on and off the field. I am at the top of the class taking advanced classes in english and math. Along with football I also compete in basketball, track & field, golf, and rodeo. Rodeo has a made a tough and mean kid when I have to be. I have won state in steer wrestling so wrestling a guy to the ground is no problem for me. Playing college football has always been my dream and I've been working like hell to make my dream come true, all I need is a chance.
