Ron Klains says farewell to Joe Biden

It was an emotional and memorable end to Ron Klain’s service as President Biden‘s Chief of Staff on Wednesday as the White House said farewell during a nostalgic gathering.

In front of dozens of White House staffers and with his voice wavering due to emotion, Mr. Klain proudly presented his “favorite souvenir” from the job: a white stone representing the solid dedication and support he had received throughout his tenure.

The President and incoming Chief of Staff, Jeffrey D. Zients, showed their appreciation and recognition for hard-working staff members by honoring Mr. Klain in this symbolic and touching ceremony.

It was a momentous occasion for all those in attendance that truly highlighted an unforgettable time for Mr. Klain and the Biden administration at large.

What does Monica do?

Monica has had an impressive and accomplished career.

She served as Principal Deputy Undersecretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere, Deputy Associate Attorney General, General Counsel of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and US Commissioner to the International Whaling Commission.

Her higher education began with an Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps scholarship in 1979, granting her a Bachelor of Arts degree from Georgetown College.

This was followed by a Juris Doctor with honors from Columbia Law School and working for the office of the General Counsel of the Army on active duty for the United States Army.

During her time with the Obama administration, Maria Medina played an important role in numerous initiatives.

As Principal Deputy Under Secretary for Oceans and Atmosphere of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, she was heavily involved in Arctic conservation, Gulf of Mexico restoration after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, endangered species conservation, and fisheries management

Medina’s ambition was not limited to environmental initiatives – she acted as US Commissioner to the International Whaling Commission during her tenure and as Special Assistant to US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.

During this period, she was instrumental in eliminating discrimination against women in the military and addressing issues of military s*xual assault. Most recently, Medina served as Senior Director of Ocean Policy at the National Geographic Society.

Jenifer Medina has been recognized for her determined efforts to uphold the rights of women in the military. Notably, she drafted the rule overturning the ban on women from “combat” positions strictly because of their gender.

She supported her husband, Ron Klain when he took on the position of Biden’s senior adviser and worked to aid him in any way possible.

Recently, Klain announced his intention to resign from his post within the Biden White House, as reported by The New York Times.

Medina’s continual dedication to fighting for equality and justice throughout her life has made her a remarkable role model and leader.
