On Tuesday, May 29, 2018, our Lord and Savior called home his angel Yvette Coleman Chavis. The youngest child of the late George and Mildred Coleman, Sr., she was born on November 11, 1952 and raised in the Lambert’s Point section of Norfolk, Va.
A natural caregiver, Yvette worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at DePaul Hospital for 30 years. Not one to ever meet a stranger and a caring spirit as one would ever meet.
Yvette was kind, loving, strong-willed and a fighter. She was beloved by many and will be missed by all who knew her. We will truly miss our beloved angel.
Yvette was predeceased by her sister Shirley Thomas, and her two brothers George Coleman, Jr. and Ervin “Smokey” Coleman.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Michael E. Chavis, Sr.; her daughter Krystal L. Chavis-Green, her son Michael E. Chavis, Jr and his wife Latesa; her five grandchildren, Diamond, Jade, Michael III, Jordan, and Markell; her five sisters, Carolyn Coleman, Sandra Speller, Evelyn McElrath, Brenda Bellamy (Octavious) and Irene Foy (George); her special sister-friend, Mary Butler and one aunt, Evelyn Comers and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
